Marina "The pride of Chennai"

Marina Beach is located on the East of Chennai, It is one of the longest beach in the world (13 Kilometers). The Marina used to be famed for its pristine beauty, jolly ambiance, and rich ecosystems. However in the recent past the beach waters are polluted by the increased discharge of Pollutants by the Coovum River. Human wates, plastics and papers littered by visitor and by neighbouring settlement area have made most of the beach area unusable. Many voluntary organizations have taken up the task of cleaning up the Marina and protecting the ecosystem. Particular efforts include protection of Olive Ridley turtle nests along the Neelangarai section of the beach.
