Life in Chennai during flood.

Life in Chennai sub-urban area becomes tough from mid-September to mid-December. Mostly during this time of the year the city experiences seasonal rainfall from the north-east monsoon winds. Cyclones in the Bay of Bengal sometimes hit the city (above picture show the monsoon winds and clouds over the beach). Due to fast urbanisation of the sub-urban areas around chennai natural flood waters discharge channels have become extint. Geologically most of the south Chennai area is of clay soil which do not permit the water to seep through to the water table, resulting in water stagnation. It results in powercut of days and disturbs day today life.
